Trenton is at the state tournement for special olympics this weekend. we couldn’t go today(Friday) because of a golf outing i was in, more about that later. anyway, Trenton won a gold medal in the 50 meter freestyle!! woohoo.  we are going to Stevens Point on Saturday to watch him in his other two events.
The golf outing i played in today was for REACH. that is where Trenton works. quite a few of the employees came up to me and told me how much they love Trenton, what a big helper he is and how fun he is to be around. God made him in his image and who am I to question his good and perfect will. i am proud of the man Trenton has become. He has become so much more interactive and engaged. there are probably a number of reasons for this; his work at REACH, maturity, Derek being home for the summer, and he is probably bored. who knows. all i know that it has almost become the opposite of what he was like before. and sometimes we have to tell him to stop talking so much and take a breather.

Trenton had a dream the other night and this is the first time he has ever told me about it. i think the dream scared him. he said he was watching his favorite show (one of them anyway) “pimp my truck” . he said he was sitting on a cloud watching his show and fell off the cloud.  what was suprising to me was that he shared it with me. he has been so talkative the past year. it is for me a new and exciting time. he still has his outbursts and stubborness but he has been so much more interactive, and that is awesome!

Thanks so much for the kind words. It is so hard to say no to Trenton for a thing I know he would enjoy.  Someday I will feel comfortable letting him ride home by himself now that I know so many of his work buddies ride the bus all the way to his destination.  It is not that I don’t trust Trenton on his ability to get home, I do.  I guess I don’t trust “some” other people.  But your right, he was so excited and felt like a grown up. Even if dad was along for the ride.

fishin’

Trenton and Derek went fishing with all of the new baits Trenton bought.  Trenton only uses one bait. he doesn’t want to get the others wet or dirty. his favorite lure is a spinner that is a little to much wait for his pole and line, however,  he is able to cast to out far. he also gets bored if he does’nt catch a fish on the first cast.  he then starts yelling at the fish to bite his bait. he actually calls the fish stupid for not biting his bait.

Trenton

I am Trenton’s supervisor at Reach in Workshop 3. I remember the day he came in to work and he was upset because he wanted to ride the bus and mom told him no. He told me the van was too loud. He then told me he was riding the bus home on friday and I remember the excitement in his eyes! He was sooo excited to be able to ride the bus. I didn’t know dad was riding the bus with him until I saw him at the end of the day waiting for Trenton. He came in today (Monday) and I asked him how the bus ride went. He told me it went fine. He is a wonderful guy and I’m am very honored to be able to work with him everyday! He has brought sooo much sunshine into my life since the day he started!! Thanks for everything you guys have done…in my eyes you guys are incredible!!

City Bus Ride

Trenton has been asking me and asking me about riding the city bus to work and back. we have told him no, not by yourself. he does ride the bus with his group from REACH on Fridays as they go out into the community. and we did get him a bus pass that is “only good on Fridays.” i will explain that on a different occasion. anyway, back to the bus. he has gotten quite mad at his mom and me. so i told him today that i will ride the bus home with him tomorrow afternoon. so Cindy will be dropping me off at REACH and Trenton and me will be getting on the bus to ride it home. how fun is that!

i always get a kick out of the phrases Trenton comes up with. where did he here that. how does he know to use it in a sentence correctly. he cant read really. God is amazing. i am cleaning up my mess in the kitchen after i ate and he asks me a question. i forget about what, he asks me a million of them a day. so i answer him and he says “bingo” right  answer daddy-o. then proceeds to knock me on the head and say “nice white spot baldy”.  and of course the never ending “your jeeps on fire” to which i reply “what!!!”. “HA HA gotcha” he replys,  every time.

his friend Peter was working with him at REACH and they playing with a box. Peter apparently had a hard time getting out of the box. so some of the employees at REACH asked Trent to give Peter a hand. of course they meant helping him out of the box. Trenton proceeds to tell everyone “sure Peter i’ll give you a hand” and he starts clapping. well with T’s (we call Trenton T) personality everyone thought that it was quite funny, as did Trenton. Peter eventually got out of the box, but i don’t know how much help he got.
